I noticed that my right turn signal light did not work on my boat trailer. After completely tearing the trailer wiring apart and re-doing it... ... ... . still does not work.

I found that the plug receptacle on the truck for the rt. turn light is dead. All others ok. The wiring etc. under the truck looks fine ?????????????

Anyone have a possible location of trouble. ? Thanks for any help.

The first time I hooked a trailer to my '04 I did not have any running lights on the trailer. The pin on the truck 7 pin connector was dead. I found the problem in one of the wire loom connectors at the front of the truck. One of the pins in the wire loom connector was bent over during assembly and had not inserted properly into the female portion of the plug. An hour and a half late but made it on the road for vacation with out cutting up any wiring. Has your turn signal ever worked with this truck? I had the shop manual and it helped with locating the bad connector.

Check your fuses on the block under the hood if you have not already. Each circuit for the 7-plug has its own fuse. Right/Left/Running/Backup are all different. Good luck.

Thanks to all for the help. Isn't this site great for this???

I went back under the truck today. Disc. the plug from the harness. Plug ok. No power to the end of the harness on RT. Turn. Also no power on the 4 pin flat connector I found behind the bumper. Tried hooking trailer to my 1980 Dodge crewcab 4x4 beach truck (not diesel :( ) and all lights work perfectly.

I had no idea that each plug pin would be fused separately. Will check that in the morning.

This all started when the trailer plug came out of the truck plug and I dragged it 40 miles down the road. Had the "bloody stump" of the cord with only 3 pin blades still attached to the wires.

Thanks again for the suggestions.

now the question... is how that fuse got blown... ...

I just went through that... . with one of our trailers... don't have a clue what caused the fuse to blow... . we use all LED lights so there is never any excessive current to blow the fuse... ...

Glad you got it fixed.....

jetlag,

That question has been puzzling me also.

The trailer plug came loose from the truck and destroyed itself bouncing down the road so it never got plugged back in. I will sleep on it and maybe it will come to me in the night.
