What the $^% is wrong with my trailer brakes?

I'm searching for any tips or tricks that discourage break in's while storing a unit away from one's home. I just had my 5er broke into this past week. :mad: The idots popped my entry door latch and took our cleaning supplies, a field jacket, and two old CD's. [The Guess Who and the Greatest hits of the 70's] I couldn't give these two CD's to anyone without feeling guilty!! They did me a favor, I just couldn't just throw them away. As much as we have in the trailer that's all the stole.

Claymore mines are out of the question,... but deserving!

The latch, cleaning supplies were no issue, they can be replaced. The field jacket was my brother's. My brother passed away in 1999. I'm PO'd!

Dmerryman-Sorry To Hear It !

Everyone knows my thoughts on thieves. If in a locked storage yard, insist they put it in a well lit area. A friend had one parked out back, tailed into a chainlink fence. Crooks cut the fence down (backed right up next to it) and just about stripped his rig. :{ :{ :{

That just plain SUCKS. They attempted to break into mine a few months back, instead they broke into the truck and took some spare keys we had for it in the glove box. (Oddly enough they left the $1000 worth of easily stolen radio equipment) Anyway knowing they had the keys we changed the locks (NOT cheap) and even still, they tried to break in. Screwed up on of the cargo doors (pryed it open) but couldn't get in so they stole everything in the storage compartment. I keep it at my work (management fringe benefit). After the break in the owners were concerned for their own benefit and installed security cameras for the buildings. No problems since then but I think its' a coincidence.

Other than lighting, I can't imagine what else you can do at a public storage lot. My father in law had a slide in six pak camper that used to be broken into constantly, cause it was so easy. They would actually steal our toothbrushes:eek: We finally just quit locking it and quit putting anything at all in it. Drastic and it still didn't keep them out. Ended up moving to a safer lot. You might consider that.

PRO-TEC TRAILER SECURITY SYSTEM

http://www.protecsystemone.com/

The PRO-TEC System 1 is designed to monitor and protect the trailer and it's contents. Any movement of the trailer, or the opening of a door will trigger the alarm. This will cause the electrical brakes of the trailer to be applied making movement impossible in addition to exterior alarms alerting the public.

Dead bolt

The place were I buy my camper gear has a dead bolt lock kit for camper doors, I installed one on my TT and you would have to pull the hole damn door down to get in it now. :) the kit was about $35 and took about 45 minutes to put in. This would be a good start I would think. My next sugjestion would be the claymore mines. :D

lodks and security

locks keep honest people out. if i'm a crook, and i've got time and won't be discovered, it's pretty hard to keep me out. (I'M NOT) having been on the receiving end of a visit from burglars, it leaves most folks with a feeling of having been violated physically. :mad:
