I've been monitoring/paying attention to JCasper's thread.
I have 225/75-15 ST E Carlisles on the 5er. You guys have me all freaked out.
I definately can't fit the Michelin XPS Rib 235/85-16 LT tires on the trailer. They are 31. 7" dia vs. 28. 3" on my current setup.
However, I can fit the Michelin XPS Rib 225/75-16 LT tires on the trailer. They are 29. 3" dia. They are rated for 2640lbs vs my current 2830lbs on the E rated ST tires.
Trailer axles weighed in at 7800lbs fully loaded.
Should I get the 225/75-16 LT Michelin XPS Ribs?? Even though they aren't the 235/85-16's that everyone recommends??
Now I just have to see if Americas Tire will allow me to trade up without soaking me too badly. (new wheels and tires)
The Maxxis 225/75-15 ST E tires are available at Americas Tire and will only cost me approx $80 to upgrade/trade. I know these are better than the Carlisles, but should just bite the bullet and get the Michelins??
Thanks,
Louis
