Man, that 'stupid' convex mirror is nice and saves the curb rash with my dually.

I updated to the manual towing flip mirrors on my 96 and love that the factory had the insight toinclude this. One of the first things I had done on the stock 6X9 Chrome power mirrors was to add a stick on convex mirror to eliminate teh blind spots near the front of the dually tires.

I'll trade you the 6X9 mirrors - they have flat glass on them!

I had the big "dumbo" mirrors on my '99. I added the big 5" spots to the bracket that could be adjusted indepently ... ... ... those were nice, but not as sharp as the new tow mirrors. On my '03 I tend to keep the mirrors adjusted where I need them for backing, curbs etc etc, and use the spots for highway traffic.

Only my opinion, but those convex mirrors are priceless. You can see everything next to you from the front door back and when in rush hour traffic you can manuever through traffic a lot easier. If you watch both mirrors cars will disappear in the primary mirror but are still visible in the convex mirror.

I'm sure you could find a set of mirrors from a 1500 at a lot of places (ebay) if you don't like the convex towing mirrors.

I don't like the small convex mirror. I would rather have the whole big mirror be slightly convex like my old F250. Much easier to quickly see what's next to you.

$50 is much better than almost $400MSRP plus install for a new one. Ask me how I know, LOL! Mopar4less saved me decent money (got it delivered for around $280) and they were a pleasure to deal with. I put the thing on myself to save the labor. It wasn't bad and you can cheat it in without removing the door panel and chancing breaking the tabs on the DP.

Little flamin' goin' on here

Anyone who tows and wants to remove the spot mirror is an all out MORON. If you don't like it, too bad. Get used to it. It's a LIFE SAVER--SERIOUSLY.

If you don't tow and are just sick of looking around the little spot mirror, same thing goes for you too.

I hope like heck I offended someone with this. Anyone who removes the spot mirror doesn't deserve the privilege of driving a CTD.

Easy there cattlerustler, not everyone's a pro driver like yourself!!!! :-laf :-laf

I did not think I would get so much useless info. I have spent the last 14 years in a CTD and I have not backed over anything that I did not want to. As far as the MORON above goes I guess i could sell him my two tow mirrows for $50. He could point these forward that way he could see himself coming and going.

I didn't think mine was useless - I told how I used my 'spot' mirrors and what the advantage was. Sorry you did not appreciate that - or you already knew. Go back to your Ford mirrors then and if you catch them on something going backwards, they'll break as it only folds in one direction.

What kind of responces did you think you were going to get? A bunch of replies that agreed with you? Gees, this is one of the things that Dodge did right (or at least better) than in previous models.

I just picked up my 05 this afternoon. While I do like the spot mirror I hate that the passenger side mirror so magnified soooo much. It's like every body is tailgating me when I check the side mirror. My 99 has the standard mirrors on it and isn't magnified much at all. Because I drive both trucks it's going to take some time to get used to the 05 mirror.

I have always been a fan of convex mirrors. I have added them to every previous rrig I've owned. I think the factory ones are pretty decent and would never be without them. I do however feel there is room for improvement.

I wonder what it would look like if the entire outer third of the mirror curved away shperically.

Right now I keep them so I can see back pretty far with the main part. with this setting I can just barely see down to my tire. If I have precise backing to do I lower them then. I wish they did that themselves when you engage reverse. My Audi used to do that, I cant imagine it would have cost them too much to add. Memory positions for the seat would be nice too. Does the Laramie package do that?

I think we gotta watch the name calling there boys! We're all on the same team after all! :-{} :p

Anyway..... are the trailer tow mirrors heated? Reason I ask is because when you spec out a new truck with the Laramie H package the trailer tow mirrors give you a CREDIT as if they are a DOWNGRADE???? Odd??? :--)

Funny thing about them ferd mirrors, once they'er extended they don't ever go back to the retracted position like our Dodge's do. Seriously! Check out any ferd and you'll see they're always out!
