Boats & The Curse of the Cummins

I suspect this subject has been discussed but a search of the archives didn't reveal any info.
I have the plain ole stock black mirrors and they are not adequate for towing. I bought a set of the Dodge specific clamp on's and they vibrate too much for me. What I want is a set of the extendo mirrors. Camping World has the "Power Vision" - made in Oregon variety. Are they any good? Is the OE better? Any comments, please.

I have power vision mirrors on my 96 and I like them alot. They give you a true distance and they do not vibrate. Installation is easy accept for feeding the wires into the door. There was just a post on installing power visions. I would recommend them.

I just installed the factory Flip Out Tow Mirrors on my truck. They are great (If you don't adjust your mirrors alot) and cheaper than Power Vision.
Got them from www.magauto.com, cheaper than Mopar4less.

I'm with BG. I've had them on for about a month, and they're great.

I have had the Power Vision mirrors since my 96' Ram. Took them off before I sold it and installed them on my 2001. 5 RAM. Wouldn't be caught without them ! Tried many other add-on mirrors and mirror extenders and have found nothing to compare to the Power Vision mirrors. Installation on the new pickup was a snap and not anywhere near as difficult as I imagined.

I have the old timey slide ons. They seem to work pretty good. I like the idea of putting them on when I need them. Truck still fits in Garage. May look at some others one of these days. I kinda like the looks of the flip mirrors the new ones have.

tlippy; I have the Powervision mirrors and love em. You can beat camping worlds price if you shop around. I got mine at last years May Madness from one of the venders for $325. I think there are some venders on the TDR links that sell them also.

I just bought a set of Mckesh mirrors since I couldn't see ANYTHING behind the new 35' TT ( http://www.mckesh.com ). These mirrors came highly recommended from several friends and seem to be the favorites on the http://www.irv2.com site as well. They are easy to put on and off the truck, work on any vehicle (VERY adjustable), and can stick WAY out to see around the trailer (at least a full mirrors width beyond the factory tow mirrors - that distance is adjustable too). Towed the trailer today with the mirrors on the truck and they don't shake either.

With the McKesh, you can look at a total of three mirrors on either side. I set mine up so I can see close, middle and beyond the trailer.

While it takes some getting used to, it really is nice. When setup properly, there are no blind spots other than what is right on your a**. All this at a fraction of the cost of the factory flips or the PowerVisions.

Does anyone make a power unit that slides in when not in use. This would be the bee's kness in my mind. Are you vendors listening? Get 'em boys, we'll buy'em!

Tlippy... I take a lot of crap for my mirrors, but I love them and wouldn't trade for anything else. No vibration and I can see around all of my trailers and camper. I think Evan refers to them as "monkey bars". (Must be cause he is so young, he remembers climbing on them!)

Id go with the Powervision mirrors. They are adjustable from inside and,if Im not mistaken, have come out with a heated version. They are made in Pendelton. Take some time off and drive up to the factory. Also, they stand behind their product.

Thanks Guys! I'm PVed as of Friday. At least they're in the back of the truck. I'll install Monday - as soon as I can ask my dent and fix it buddy how to get the door panels off without tearing up all the push-on panel clips.
I am going to buy the pin puller for the connectors. AND i'm going to buy the correct pin connector for the driver's door - rather than just cut off the existing one and reattach all the wires with butt connectors.

I have a set of the Eagle Vision Portables out of Camping World. Other than the fact you have to clamp them onto your door each time you use them, (which is very very easy)
and adjust them, they are absolutely great. I can almost see someone sitting on my bumper. They cost about $120/pair. Probably outlive my truck.

are available remote adjust and heated,
they bolt on in place of the stockers

:

I had PV's on my 97 and have the stock towing flip outs on my 2001. I miss the PV but like the ones I have now except adjusting takes awhile.
