Trailer wireing question

What is the center pin [yellow wire]on a standard 7 pin connector used for?

Not real sure, but I think that it is for back-up lights.

Normally Backup lights, depending on trailer sometimes wired for 12v for aux lighting on/in trailer... . pin 4 is also used as 12v but generally for battery charging on trailer
