I was wondering where the ground in the trailer wiring loom attaches is grounded to the truck. I have som very strange trailer wiring problems with my truck. when hooked up to a trailer, the brake controller does not activate with the brake pedal, but I can move the slider and it works fine. When I use the left turn signal, the light on the controller blinks off and on, and the light for the breakaway battery flashes as well. Both are fine with a right turn signal. If I have the running lights on and hit the brakes, the running lights go dark, but come back on when I release the brakes. I stuck a jumper between the trailer tongue and the bumper to check for ground. I noticed the breakaway light dims with the turn signal, as opposed to going out completely without the jumper in place. And the wire gets noticably warm and it sparks slightly when I touch it to the bumper.

This started a couple months back. I put a plug up in my bed and tapped into the harness. The plug in the bed works just fine. I'm positive I wired up to the correct wires.

Before this, the bumper plug worked just fine. I'm sure it makes no difference, but it is an RV (seven prong) Plug.

Any ideas and or help is appreciated.

As an added note, I just took the truck for a drive with the trailer hooked up. Had all the problems, plus it blew my brake light fuse.

I guess I should have put this in the second gen forum. Could a mod do that please? Thanks
