Trailer Brake Controller Connector?

I'm thinking about wiring up a momentary interrupt switch on the tail light wire going to the trailer so I can thank truckers for letting me over without turning my headlights on and off.

Is there a wire in the cab I can wire the switch into to accomplish this?

I always use the turn signal lever and switch it back and forth so it goes Right, Left, Right, left, etc.

But 1/2 the Truckers don't flash there lights for RV's, they think were un-educated scum bags, while there "pro drivers".

I opened up the PDM (?) where all the relays are and cut the power lead to the coil of the trailer tow relay.

I ran power from the main bus through a fuse, the firewall and to a toggle switch I installed to the right of the kick panel.

Then took this switched power back through the firewall to the cut coil lead for the relay.

Wirenut the unused lead (power from the headlight switch).

Now the trailer running lights are independent of the headlight switch. You can use them as markers when stopped at night and not run all the power as if the trucks parking lights were on.

You can then signal what you want if you want.

mreiter,

Pull the headlite switch out & find the wire that goes to the tail lite relay (I think mine was brown w/white tracer) cut the wire & install a mometary OFF switch line. I mounted my switch in the cubby hole to the right & below the radio so you cant see it unless you're looking for it

They sure dont mind when *we* flash our lights to help them.

I rewired all my marker and clearance lightes, trailer too, onto a seperate switch. Now I can flash all of them except tailights and headlights. Just like a real trucker. :D

I added load relays too because my headlight switch and turn signal switch can no longer handle the load of the RV and trailer lights.

I was concerned about draining the trucks baterries for marker lights so I made a jumper wire that puts the TT12v into the pin for the running lights after unplugging from the truck.
