OK, Guys, I have a question--

Connected to a trailer for the first time and the taillights would not come on on the trailer. The brake lights worked fine, the turn signals worked fine, all the lights on my truck worked fine, but no taillights until I put the truck in reverse. Then the taillights on the trailer came on. So I thought it might be just a fluke, as I was using my plug-in socket from my Durango. But the Durango powered up all the trailer taillights normally. I pulled the socket on the big Dodge, and everything looked normal. I cleaned it, put it all back together, and still the same thing. No trailer taillights until I put it in reverse.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm sure that with all the knowledge out there, this will be a quick and easy fix.

Thank you in advance.

If you have a 7 pin connector, the center pin should be the back up lights and the top left terminal (11:00 o'clock position) should be your running lights. It sounds like these two connections are reversed. Take a tester and check these two terminals, other wise it may be your relay in the power distribution box is missed wired. Hope this works. If you have Dodge manual you can check the wiring diagram for your connections.

It should be #2 terminal in the truck female plug. Looking into the plug with the notch at the botton, it will be the terminal at 7:00 o'clock. bg

Looking at your 7 pin assy with the grove at the top your brake pin should be at the 5 o'clock position looking into connector and should be blue in color wire. <<<<(1-o'clock-batt +) (3 o'clock-right turn)(5-o'clock-brake)(7-o'clock-batt neg)(9-o'clock-left turn)(11-o'clock-running lites)>>>>

thanks guys. my trailer was previously wired for my old toyota truck, and it had a smaller setup, and i didnt want to use an adapter, since the toyo is long gone.

fixed now

pulled the cover on the PDB and checked the 40 namp trailer fuse

and it was blown I cant figure out how it was getting anything at all. I replaced the fuse and they all worked fine and normal.

thanks for all the help
