Does anyone know if the 2001 3500 Ram come with the wires run to the back of the truck for trailer wiring harness, If so where are they?

Seems to me and i have not looked, shame on me, as I had my 5th wheel hitch and wiring installed for me. But I think there is a connector for the trailer wiring underneath on the drivers side door outside frame rail. Remember seeing it when I was installing running boards.

No plans to bomb. This is my retirment vehicle currently pulling 21' 5er want to buy 30 to 35 for retirment.

I have it. You might have to have the camper package for it to be on your truck. I was also given a blue connector with the pigtail to hook to a brake controller. The connector then plugs into the under dash connection.

I have looked for this rumored connector on the main harness that runs to the back of the truck and can't find it. I spliced into the wires back by the trailer hitch when I put a second plug in the bed for my 5er. Where the heck is it?? #ad

Fireman Dave please expand upon your entry? Are you saying there is only a connector under the dash? Where did you get these other wires? I have the "camper package" which,in my understanding is just a sway bar. Thanks

I'm not sure about the '01 but I would think they are the same as previous.

The Camper package includes swaybar and overloads. No trailer wiring.

The towing package provides larger guage wire for lights, additional relays, a 7 pin trailer connector under the rear bumper and a pigtail for electric brakes under the dash.

Depending on the trailer draw, the wire guage in the stock wiring harness isn't quite big enough to drive both the truck lights and a trailers lights. Without intermediate relays, or larger wire, you will have dim stop lights (etc) on the trailer.

Just a Little BOMBed and liking it a lot.

I have both the camper and tow packages. I'm not sure which one includes the wiring - I thought it was the camper package. Maybe the camper package is the swaybar and the overload springs. Anyway, the pigtail and connector were in a plastic bag in my glove box. I also received a 7 pin to 4 pin adaptor. I haven't actually looked under the dash yet for the other end of the connector, but I will soon as I bought a 27' TT yesterday.

Ditto for what I've seen on mine. The tow package came with the 7-pin connection on a Class III hitch. The place where I bought the Exiss car hauler changed the hauler connector to a 7-pin so it is a direct plug in to the truck w/no adapter. They also used under-dash pigtail for elec. brake controller.
