First trip this year

I sold my ALpenlite 9. 5 slide truck camper and 8'x16' cargo trailer. Having used a similar setup on my 93-95-2001-2002 and now my 2004. 5 Dodge cummins trucks I know the ins and outs of truck campers. I replaced the camper with a Platinum (think Horse trailer) with a custom LQ interior 3 month ago,. I am into my 3rd week of a 7 week outing through the Mountains of Idaho, Montana , Wyoming and Colorado. All I can say so far is WOW what a difference. I gained about 1. 5mpg, it tows like a dream and I have lost all of the wind buffeting and topheavyness. The combined wt is more than 2000# more than before and my truck seems to just play with the load. Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.

Dang it I tried to post a photo, not working. . YET>

Gonzo,

I pulled several of those very fancy and very high dollar all aluminum wedge shaped GN LQ horsetrailers as backhauls out of the OKC area back up to IL or IN when I was transporting. I discovered the same thing you have posted.

I pulled one once several years ago from OKC to IN. I was in a big hurry because my dispatcher assigned me another, second backhaul immediately following that one that was time sensitive.

I set my cruise on 79 mph and flew with ease across the Okie turnpike from Edmond to Joplin then on 74 mph all the way from Joplin to St. Louis. The trailer pulled very light and didn't require the power or consume the fuel a trailer that size would normally require because of its weight and shape.

They were easy to pull but I know some of them have a huge price tag.
