I'm getting ready to change the fluid in my transfercase of my 03. How can I tell if it is a NV243, NV271, NV273, or a NV241 GenII? They take different amounts of fluid. Also where is the drain & fill wholes?

In addition on my NV5600 where are the drain & fill wholes?

If any one has any advise to add please feel free to do so.

Thanks & make it a Great Day!!

Click on the truck link in my sig and then go to the General Reference section (lower middle) and there age pages for the NV5600 and xfer case fluid change.

Thanks guys. That information is real helpfull. klenger, those digrams & information are a great boon. Thanks for the info. This is what makes the TDR such a great organization to gbelong to.

Take Care & make it a great day.

Correct. The 271/273 is about the stoutest currently available stock on the market. Much heavier duty than the 241, which has been living beind the Cummins for years. Ford also uses these cases in the Superduties. Had a 271 in my F350, now I have a 273.

No worries. :)
