Ok, I couldn't figure out how to search for threads, so I need some help. I'll be changing the oil in the five speed transmission and the rear end. What kind of oil do you use and can I use the same in both?
I hate to sound silly but the maintenance section of the owners manual has all the information on types of lubricant. It's a good reference as far as DC's recommended types for the temperatures you may experience in your neck of the woods. As far as "can you use the same for the rear as the trans" you may be able to - based on what the spec is, but make sure if you have the Trac lok rear that you get the "friction modifier" too.
You don't show a profile so I'm not sure what year & etc. you are. If you have an owners manual, in the very back there should be a card you can use to order a "real" service manual. It's worth every penny of the $90. Do what I did, just call the number on the card, use your credit card and in a few days it arrives
As far as this site & searching - if you click on the blue button in the upper right corner, the window comes up & has instructions on how to request items.
The post was actually for a friend that has a 99 3500 and who told me his manual recommends DC oil and he was looking for an alternative. He'll be traveling cross country this weekend and wanted to lube up but not at DC. Thanks for the post and I'll try the thread search too.
