Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Trans band adj help

I have 99 with auto 150,000 miles and the trans would delay the shift between 1-2. (tack would reach 2500 or more rpm before shift)during normal accelleration. So i change filter and flushed fluid, adj inside band and and when i went to adjust the band on the outside of the trans , the adj screw turned in untill the locknut fell off and still did not reach torque specs. Did i do something wrong or is there another prob?

It may be the band strut has broken. You need to drop the pan and look at it.

Is that something that is easy to fix or require trans overall?? Is there a picture in the factory manual?
