Done the band adjustment, the rear band didn't seem to need it ,the front band had to be turned in five rounds to get the torque. the trans is happy now but im not sure how long. seems im going to be doing the trany upgrade soon. does that seem to be the norm @ 57k on the first band adjustment? TIA Harv

5 turns is a LOT. It must have been loose from the getgo. When you hammer it in 1st and shift to second without that band adjusted correctly things are not happy, the wear and tear on the band is much worse than normal. Stay on top of it and it will still last a long time, and start letting out of it a little when it shifts to second rather than holding it. When it is solidly in second then go back into the throttle.

The rear band is dang near bulletproof, if it needs a half a turn in 25K miles I would be surprised.

Thanks for the reply, I agree the reson i decided to do the adjustment is I was pulling the fiver stopped at a intersection and had a steep incline when the trans shifted into second the whole truck shutterd, i let up on the fuel and let all get a grip, then went on my way, kinda scarry after the adjustment no more shutter that was the only time it had ever done that, since ive pulled to the mountains and made some good pulls no problem. being stock i know one day im gona have to get the upgraded trans.
