Was wondering if any one has ever changed and auto for a 5 or 6spd with a Gear Vendor GVOD and what might be involved in part and labor?
 
Not sure if the Gear Vendors unit will change anything (I don't think it will), but I can help you out with the transmission conversion. We swapped transmissions between two truck just before Christmas. My truck went from a 6-speed to an Auto, and his went the other way.
