:( As some of you know, I have been having trans problems. I am tring to get things all in order before the new trans is installed, plus just getting Pheonix trans to cover the warranty on it. Everybody keeps talking about a check valve on the return line from the cooler. My truck does not have a check valve type line, the only check valve we can find on mine is on the block mounted cooler. Is this normal, is this only on the 2000 model, or does Pheonix trans need to do more homework, or are they just tring to get out of paying for the rebuild.

Be very careful with Phoenix Trans, they will do what the can to get out of warrenty. They had several good rebuilders now just a bunch that can't speak english... . That said, try blowing air into the front cooler line, put a jug over the rear line if air will blow through then it is not clogged. Good luck

In the factory configuration, there is a check ball or valve on the inlet side of the block mounted heat exchanger. This is the hot line, or the output of the trans.

The purpose os this valve is to prevent drain back. Although, it doesn't even do a good job of that. Many performance transmissions shops will remove this altogether as it may become stuck and stop the flow of fluid.

If you remove it, and your trans does not have the lube in Park mod done, you will need to put the truck in Neutral for a minute of so before starting out. This will get lube in the circut and prevent and problems.
