Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Trans Cooler Line with temp probe port

I'm about to install the sending unit for my auto trans oil temperature gauge. I'm debating whether to cut the cooler line and add a tee and compression fittings or install the line part #5011244aa for the 94/95 Ram. (Dealer wants about $175 Canadian for the line)



I notice that the hot line out of the transmission goes to the water to oil cooler on the engine first and then on to the air to oil cooler rad.



Can anyone tell me what route the replacement line is bent for?



Does it connect from the transmission to the water cooler or from the water cooler to the air cooler?

i paid $75(us) for the the line.

i would rather replace the line than to cut it.

line goes from the transmission to the first cooler.

if you go with the new line you will need to eliminate the back flow preventer where the line attaches to the first cooler because the new line has one also.

I used the Jannetty Racing kit, it installs in the line going to the cooler. Took me 20 minutes to install. All you need is a tubing cutter and an adjustable wrench. 24k later, no problems. Total cost was about 39 bucks.

Did you use the Jannety kit in the line from the transmission to the engine water to oil cooler or in the line from the water cooler to the rad?

Put it in the vertical part of the line going up to the tank cooler, on the front line front the transmission. A small tubing cutter is the ticket. I have the little red cutter that is only a couple inches long. I have Ted's pod and it works fine. Snoking

Exactly what Snow king said, i did it the same way.

You can use the port on the drivers side of the transmission towards the back. It has a 7/16" hex head plug which can be removed and the transmission temp probe put in. You should not that this port is not very deep and to avoid blocking or restricting flow you may need to use a 1/8x1/4NPT bell reducer with a bushing. This will expose the tip of the probe to transmission fluid without obstructing the flow.

Janetty fitting

When you install the Janetty fitting in the line, what size temp sender probe do you need to use?



I was going to go with a VDO vision series gauge and they offer a 3/8 inch and a 5/8 inch length.



What are the two fittings that you mentioned to make sure they come with the block?

I used the Jannetty kit as well. Make sure you take the time to install it correctly and dope the 2 inline fittings. Mine installed with no problem and does not leak a bit. SO far, so good.
