trans cooler

I noticed the other day that my transmission cooler was caked with oil and dirt on the passenger side, other than the obvious, a hole in it is there any other area's i should be looking at? I can't see anything squirting out of it-------- thanks for any input

The most recent TDR magazine has a write up as well. This is happening on my truck (trans line is showing wear) and I'm adding the protective hose tomorrow. Hoping to stop the rubbing before it goes all the way through.
