guy's, changed trans fluid and filter today,6-15-02 I dropped the vb so I could get as much fluid out as possible. Every thing is back in place and no leaks and shifts the same:D but it is about 1/32nd over the full hash marks:eek: can it stay this way or what should I do:confused: I wont drive it any more till I hear from some of you, as always thanks in advance Don Barr

I Did the same thing!!!!!!!!

Don... ... I chagned mine earlier this week... ... And did the same thing... ... ... To be honest with you... ..... I wouldnt worry about it. I checked mine again last night and it was right on the MAX mark... ... I put about 1000 miles on it since the change and re-checking the level... ... . Just my $. 02 worth.

Don, depending on the temp of the trans fluid you could be significantly over filled. If the fluid temp was over 160* or so I would let it be, it is fine. If the temp of the fluid was under 140* I would drain about a half quart to a quart out and start checking again. If you are over or under by a half quart or so it really is not a big deal, When my trans temps are up around 215* or a little higher it reads about 1/4" above the max fill line, and at 140* it is just under the max line.

LSMITH, this reading was at normal operating temp on the water temp guage I don't have a temp guage for my trans.

Don, you can guestimate the temp of the fluid by placing your hand on the pan. If you cannot hold it on the pan longer than a second or two you are over 160. 3-4 seconds you are over 140, If you can hold it on the pan no problem it is not warm enough in my opinion. I do not have a transmission temp gauge either, but the infared temp gun is great. You can shoot the diffs, T-case, on and on. They are under $100 easily, and great to have around. Hope this helps.
