I moved my truck today after it sat and idled for about 10 mins. When I walked back to where I was parked there was a small puddle of transmission fliud on the ground. I pull my truck in and leave it running while I crawl underneath and look for the problem. What I see is the crossmember directly under the oil pan is saturated and dripping. I also notice two trans cooling lines above it laying on the crossmember . I do not see a visible leak. Does anybody have any experience with this problem? I think that the trans cooling lines may have rubbed on the crossmember and wore thru, but I can't get between the crossmember and oil pan to visually verify. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

p. s. I'm at 135,000 miles, no other problems other than a trans cooling line that has come loose up by the radiator, and my only trans mod is a DTT valve body.

trans leak

I had a similar leak awhile back. Traced it to the Primary coolant to fluid trans cooler, which is just behind and below the turbo. Its a black canister with two trans line coming out the bottom and coolant lines out the front. Mine was leaking at the fittings and no matter how much u torqued on them they would not stop. DC said it was a problem with the fitting design and replaced with an updated version. What I was getting was fluid running down the line to the cross member and dripping off there.

This would only hold true if u have an auto trans. Manuels dont have this kind of cooler.

If you crawl under the pass side of truck and look up like you were looking at bottom of the turbo u will see the cooler and fittings, should be pretty obvious if they are leaking.

hope this helps

I just repaired a truck at work last week with the same kind of leak. It was the trans line coming out of the transmission. The two lines rubbed together on one wore thru and sprung a leak. Good luck.

Than you for the reply's, I will be checking your suggestions this afternoon.

Out of curiosity, did you guys have any catastrophic failure as a result of the leaks? Or did it just stay a leak until you fixed it. Thanks again!
