The last time the trans fluid was changed, the shop used a cork gasket. It leaked bad. I replaced the cork gasket with RTV, now it leaks. I tried to add a little more RTV to the leaking area and it made the problem worse. Is there a non-porous gasket available for the 47RH? Maybe from the dealer?

If one does not exist, do you have any suggestions or ideas? Maybe I did something incorrectly with the RTV?

Thanks,

Aaron

I bought a filter from the dealer a few changes ago and was given a plastic-coated metal gasket with it. It's great - no more scraping the old one off and it can be re-used repeatedly. I think the same one would fit your truck.

Thats what I've always used. Only leak I ever had was because one of the bolts on my mag-hytec wasnt torqued propperly.

It came with the filter - I don't remember how much. It wasn't much - or I would have remembered. Call a dealer and ask how much for a trans filter with gasket. Ask if it's that same kind of gasket to be sure (but I think they said they were all switching to this kind).

When I bought my '95, used, it came w/ a junky cork gasket, which had broken due to overtorquing and was drooling. I replaced it with the dealer's plastic-over metal gasket (maybe $20 bucks? I try not to look at dealer receipts... doctor's orders). Works great, reuseable, no leaks. The only thing I hate worse than cork is RTV.

Just called my dealer and they have the gasket in stock for about $10. I'll stop on my way home and pick one up.

I got the gasket tonight. It is a rubber or plastic material with a metal layer in the middle. It appears to be a very high quality piece. My price was $9. 99 inc tax. PN for a 47RH is 2464324AC. Call your dealer for other applications.

Thanks,

Aaron
