I bought a shift kit for my '02 4x4 for fifty bucks. It was my friends who was going to install it in his truck. Not even a week after he bought it, his trans. took a crap on him. I haven't seen to many people that mess around with shift kits, everyone opts for the new valve bodies. My question is: Are shift kits not worth the effort?? Any tricks words of wisdom would be nice too. After reading the instructions I'm a little nervous. Drilling and grinding on my valve body kind of scares me. Any input is welcome. Thanks

You just have to be very careful when doing the work and follow the instructions.

just put a dunrite kit in mine and it is like a whole new truck.

Do a TDR search forum and compile opinions on the various upgrade manufacturers. Contact the manufacturer and get the closest authorized installer and do it right the first time. It's worth it!
