93 auto, for guage sender install. I noticed that there is a boss and sensor coming from the front cooling line on my trans. what is this for? My manual mentions trans light for snow plow. where is light on panel? can I tee into this boss for my sender instead of buying 94 (expensive)line?

thanks

I predict that this thread will be moved before long ;)

To answer your question... .

That sensor on the front cooler line is for the OD control circuit. It senses the trans oil temp and will force the trans out of OD if it gets too hot. Also, without the sensor installed, OD will not work. I recently installed a trans oil temp gauge. I cut in the sensor in that same line, just below the heat exchanger. I used a tee with compression fittings on each end. It's a bit of a booger to get in there because the downpipe is nicely in the way ( I took mine off when installing the sensor) I'd not recommend putting a tee fitting on the original sensor port because there would be little or no flow of fluid past the sensors.

Cheers,

Sean

Well lets see ????? I had my sensor in the Mag - Hytec pan but I put it in the transmission line about five months ago . I put a pipe T where the OD sensor is at but I did a little hunting and found a pipe T with a bigger inside diameter hole and a adapter with a bigger inside diameter hole so more fluid would pass by the sender . Will have to waite tell warmer months to see if the temps change any .

trans sender

thanks for the replies. I talked to bill at dtt. he said to take a resistance reading accross the sender for the od at operating temp then get a resistor to match and bridge the wires. this fools the computer into thinking everything is ok. tie it off then use the boss in the line for the guage instead. you just have to watch the guage as the failsafe is circumvented.
