About 4 - 5 months ago trans hunting in and out of OD. Did the "disconnect the batteries for several hours, hook back up (clean and lub terminals) and press the go pedal slowly to the floor and slowly release w/key on. It sloved the hunting. But, it started again yesterday - did the battery trick angain last night and it still hunting this morning. Any ideas?

Not sure if this is the same thing, but mine would surge back and forth at cruising speeds. It was the torque converter locking and unlocking. After a reflash I haven't had any more trouble in 70,000 miles.

Update/FYI.

This (hunting in OD) happened to me back in July and a fellow replied mentioning a "noise elimination" device that would protect against electrical noise interference with all the computers on our trucks. Apparently electrical noise interference with the APPS's signal to the computer(s) is to blame for this hunting we experience.

I just found out that the device mentioned is now available. I'm not endorsing the product as I'm just beginning to look into it now, just sharing information. If you wish to also explore it - it can be found at www.happibox.com.

Please share your thoughts/findings.

Joe, I have had the DTT noise filter for about 2 months and so far it has worked flawlessly. It is much less expensive than the Happi box. Give DTT a call.

DTT Box

Tom - Thanks for the tip. Looked into Happibox and DTT box. I'll try the $37 DTT first based on your experience, their test results and cost. It's less than a tank of fuel. Ordered today and will post results after installed - next Mon/Tues night probably. - Joe Mc

Screwiest Thing?

Yesterday I decided to try one last thing (waiting for DTT noise filter to arrive Mon - Tues), I removed the batteries and cleaned the tops with Baking Powder then all surfaces with Simple Green. When I reconnected I put a fresh coat of white grease on post terminals and connectors. Turned key on did the press accelerator slowly to the floor and slowly released, started up and took for a ride. BINGO! ???? I don't know why but the hunting is gone. Last time I disconnected the batteries for 4 hours 2 times did the same thing with the key/accelerator pedal and it didn't work. This time it did.

At this point I don't care - confused but don't care - I'm installing the filter when it comes anyway and ain't asking any questions.

Stupid &#$%^@ Automatic, computerized blasted thing???!!??!

Joe, I know what you mean. I got new batteries and it fixed it for three months. Let me know if you see a milage increase with the DTT noise filter. I'm getting about 1 mpg more but it could be just a coincidence.
