Trans identificatin by VIN?

Can you tell auto or manual from a 3rd gen VIN? IE: Looking at for-sale ads where they don't have an interior photo or list the transmission type... but the VIN is given.

I believe the answer is YES but I can't tell you how to decipher the VIN. Try doing a google search and see if something pops up. Perhaps "dodge truck VIN code"?
