Hey all-

My trans has treated me well while i've owned the truck, but now it seems to be slipping. The only thing i've done to the truck is a K&N, 4 inch exhaust and the 315's. Driving back to Mass yesterday i noticed the torque converter would not lock up in OD like it used to. If i put my foot down, it would lock and than stay locked. BUt on occasion it would unlock hitting the next hill on 95. Is it time for a new trans or is there something else that could be causing the problems? If it is time for a new trans before it leaves me on the side of the road, where is the best place to go? i live in NJ, but go to school in Mass. After reading all the trans threads i have decided when the time comes to go with a DTT trans, so now i just need to find a place to get one.

TIA

Tim

Try resetting your APPS and check your batteries- when your abtteries are low, the transmission will do all kinds of wierd stuff

ok, maybe i need to re-phrase... is this reminiscent of what any one who has lost their trans noticed before it went? i really don't want to be stranded on the road and would rather replace my trans before it goes out completely

thanks for the idea on resetting the apps, my batteries are new in the last few months (march i think) and i have had no problems with them, but i'll check them when i get home as well... as far as resetting the apps, turn the key on and slowly press the throttle to the floor and slowly release, right? i think i saw that somewhere else, but just want to make sure i do it right

thanks, tim

To reset the APPS, disconnect the batteries over-night, then re-connect, turn ignition on and slowly push throttle to the floor and release.
