Have been dealing with an issue for some time time now with my transmission, after a little light towing will not down shift past 3rd. So when I comne to a stop it has to be mauelly pulled into 2nd and will not go into 1st. Dave Goerend has been helping me and we've replaced the governor sensor in the valve body and put a resistor in the orange wire coming from the PCM to the transmission to compensate for a high voltage issue. The code P1763 has been set by the PCM. Dave gave me a reflash # of 21-04-00 that my dealer says doesn't apply to my truck. It's an 02 3/4 ton 4x4. AQny Ideas or is the service person wrong? DWest

100ohm

Tried one 100ohm resistor first then Dave had us put two inline. Worked for a while, 60 miles, then same old stuff. DWest

I would look at the line pressure and grounds.

Also read the voltage on it.

You can also call DTT

and buy thier voltage regulator.

Governor pressure sensor

Took it to the dealer Friday, they said therre were no updates over what I had on my PCM but that the pressure sensor next to the solenoid has been problematic so I took one home and installed. Worked fine today but was not towing so I'll wait and see if this does it. DWest

Yes, the pressure/governor sensor in the trans will cause this, especially if the pressure is turned up to aid in engagement/holding power...

I fought this for months until they finally figured out the pressure was a tad too high and backed it down a touch... never had another issue for 80k...

What was changed?

Steved: What was changed on your truck, the pressure sensor or the pressure setting on your valve body? DWest

They had replaced the solenoids/sensors several times, the final fix was simply adjusting the overall pressure down a bit (but I don't know how they do that).

Its been forever and an age since I dealt with that, but I want to remember that 60psi is the magic number... 60+ kicks a code, 60 and below works.

Fixed

Has been over a week now since I installed the sensor and have had no limp mode symtoms. 500 miles with some towing and it has not posted any codes. When at the dealer that Friday they cleared the code and it was back on by the time I got home, so looks good for now. DWest
