I have the older trans lines. . they look like a hair pins holding them in. . The service manual says use this tool. . nobody I've tried seems to have this tool. . even the dealer. . I don't want to destroy them on removal. . I'm sure there's a easy way. . could someone please enlighten me. . they aren't leaking as of yet. . I'm probably going to replace them with hyd. hose eventually but until that time I would like to reuse them. THANKS TO ALL WHO REPLY...

The clip in line fittings are a disaster waiting to happen. The plastic gets hard and the whole business comes apart just when you need it. Then the trans empties itself and you walk. You really should change those fittings while you can do it in your garage.

That happened to me about a year ago during a hard pull up a very steep hill. Line came a part where the plastic fitting was and spilt all my trans fluid on the road. Luckily my trans wasn't damaged then. It is broke now and waiting for my new trans... which is being shipped today via air freight... . $965 Ouch!!!

As I recall...

(And that is asking a lot) just pull the pins out and (I think) you can pop the line off. You might have to squeeze in (or out) the tabs that clip the line to the fitting.

FYI - Those are the originals, they do leak! There are 2 revisions. The first uses a better type of clip with different fittings required on both ends of the line out (goes from the trans to the block mounted cooler). You can (if you can find it) also add the updated end to the line out from the block mounted cooler that goes to the front). The line returning from the front can also be updated at the trans. Again, if you can find the parts.

The current update includes new lines and solid fittings. If you go this route, get the line out from the trans that has the temp port (I think the '95 has it). This isn't the cheapest way but it's the best. Don't buy new lines at the fron, just go to a hydraulic supply shop and buy some 1/2" trasmission hose and use that with hose clamps.

There was an update listed in the TDR s couple years back that used Wheatherhead fitting. This isn't a good idea because they have a tendency to crack the lines by the fittings.

Hope this helps!

As a card carrying member of the "I had to get to work on a rollback 'cause my transmission line blew off" club, deal with it now. That line will dump an amazing amount of fluid in a short time. I check those lines everytime I'm under my truck!!! I made mine from one wire hydraulic line, but the newest Mopar one sounds like it might work. Much cheaper than a transmission job. :( :(
