I hit an item in the roadway which caused the trans to jump into netural on my 98 3/4. Since that time the linkage seems a little loose, I must lift up on the lever to get the ignition to the locked position. Do I need to take it to Dodge for adjustment? I was hoping to be able to accomplish this myself? Thanks

yes you can do it yourself , the adjustment is under the truck on the outside of the frame rail under the wheel well liner .

loosen the nut with the lever locked in park , once you loosen the bolt the spring tension will push the gear lever back causing the trans to go out of park ... do this on a flat surface wit hthe ebarke securely set , pull it back till its in park , not forced hard and tighten the bolt . takes a bit of patience due to the confined area you will be working in .

Had a similar thing happen to one of my customers, MoparMuscle is correct in the adjustment procedure, just wanted to add that you need to check that the shift linkage did not get bent as well. I had to straighten the one before the adjustment would work out. check after adjusting that the rod from the shift linkage to the shaft that crosses from the frame does not rub the cooler lines.
