Below are the results from a sample of Royal Purple Synchromax lube I sent in for analysis from my '03 NV5600 trans. This lube only had 27,000 miles on it (of which approx 3,500 were while towing). In this time, the trans shifted fine and exhibited no problems at all. The lab stated lead was at a "severe" level, but they incorrectly listed my trans as being an automatic. Are these levels indicative of a problem, and, if so, what might it be?

Thanks,

Steve

I'm FAR more used to seeing engine oil analysis than transmission analysis - but based upon what I regularly see in engine lube wear metals, your transmission lube by comparison looks pretty good!

There are inevitable but normal wear items in a transmission that an engine will never see - such as friction wear from the transmission synchronizers - too bad the lab had the transmission type incorrectly listed - and that they didn't include more accurate and detailed analysis explanations...

I just got off the phone with David at Royal Purple, who stated he's a certified lab results interpreter, lube specialist, and mechanical engineer. He was quite concerned about these lab results, and is sending me more Synchromax to run before taking a re-sample. While I will say "the jury's still out" as far as me running Synchromax long-term in my truck, I am very pleased with the customer service I've gotten from Royal Purple so far and their sense of urgency at my potential problem. I'll post the follow-up lab results when they're in.
