I ordered a rebuilt NV4500 from Blumenthal's today and he asked me if I knew what type of oil to use. I told him that I already knew that the Mopar synthetic was to be the only kind used but he informed me otherwise. He said that Mobil, Castrol, and Valvoline all produced an oil that can be used in the 5-speed. He said it was all the same. Just make sure it is a 75W 90 full synthetic transmission oil. He gave me a Valvoline part # of 975 that can be bought at Napa. Since these trannies are warranty items and the seller said that these oils are okay, I'm thinking of using some. It runs about $8 to $9 a quart. Just thought I'd tell you guys.

Pennzoil also has a full synthetic GL4 75W90 gearlube and like the above it's spendy. I have used it in mine since my first transmission fluid change. :)

Happy trails

Bob
