binladin's liquor store-the game!

I need some help. I know it's not a 24 Valve but someone may have some insight. We took the wife's 99 1500 318 gas (Prod. Date 11/98) into the dealer today due to what sounds like a pump whine (moaning) when put into reverse mostly after starting for the 1st of the day(50-70 degs. in the garage). The main reason I thought it should be checked is due to the shutter you get in overdrive, at cruising speeds, with light to moderate acceleration. It feels to me like the torque converter. While the shuttering is occuring you can of coarse pop the OD out with the button or decelerate and the shuttering stops. The dealer said it's normal??. Has anyone out there had any simular occurrences??

Make sure the fluid level is correct, check with engine warmed up, idling in neutral. Sound like the torque converter clutch, definitely not normal. bg

No its not Normal

When there is a TSB out for that.

Check Dave Fritz's Site.

I forgot his Addy.

I think the TSB is about replacing the Valve Body.

I hope this helps.

Doug.

Sounds like a typical dealer BS line. Time to raise a little hell with him or contact the regional service manager. This is why I don't go to a dealer. Caught the local Ford dealer flat lying to me a few years back and then the Chevy dealer wanted 40% more to fix the AC in my wife's car. Went to a independent. This won't work if you still have warranty though.

Take it to a good transmission shop and get their opinion
