Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Trans problems

My Neice's Husband's 2001 CTD trans is not down shifting down to first gear, it will not go into first gear manually. When it does go into first gear it will go high into the rpm before it does shift.

Another problem, it will come out of gear when he takes left hand turns.



Any ideas or solutions!

Governor pressure transducer and solenoid is the usual culprit with starting out in drive and high rpm's to shift when it does start out in 1st.



Is it really coming out of gear or is he letting off the throttle to turn then when he tries to accelerate it doesn't? That also could be form the no downshift scenario.





Assuming the fluid level has been checked, hot idle with trans in neutral on a level surface, and it is fine?



When was the trans serviced last? If there is any question about service or it has been 20-30k, doe fluid, filter, transducer and gov solenoid first.

Thats another possibility. At the very least, remove it and clean any buildup off the end.
