Hey guys i'm new to the site. I have a 97 auto with 113k, no huge mods . Here the last few days my trans has been acting up. It wont shift into first,(always starts in second), and when it shifts into the gear between 3rd and od it pops in and out. I changed the fluid 10,000 miles ago, and still clean. Hoping someone will know somthing about this,is it junk or an easy fix?

Welcome to the TDR. :)

Sounds like you have 2 problems. When it wants to always start in second, it sounds like the governor pressure sensor and the governor pressure solenoid. They are ~$100/ea from the dealer. Had the same problem on my stock transmission. Those parts solved the problem.

The other problems sounds like it is hunting a bit, going in and out of O/D. The throttle position sensor needs to be cleaned. Get some electronic spray cleaner. Spray it up into the shaft (does NOT need to be removed from truck) and work the linkage back and forth to work it in. Also spray some in the electrical connector and let it sit unconnected for a it so it will dry out. . If that doesn't do it, the you may need to get a noise filter from DTT ( www.dieseltrans.com ).
