Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) trans. rebuild cost

does anyone have any ball park figures on manual trans rebuild cost? it pops out of gear in 3rd and 5th. also when we changed oil we found what looked like parts of gears.

$1000. 00 - $1500. 00.



Just had mine done, was going to be just under $1000 for the "normal" rebuild stuff and the upgraded mainshaft/5th gear. Then it needed a new top cover and reverse gear/bearing bringing it up to $1400. 00.

Call Blumenthals, I think you can exchange complete for about $1400 plus freight.

Just finished rebuilding mine and installing it this last weekend. I didn't have to replace any syncros which are around 40 to 50 bucks apiece and there are 6 I think. The bearing set was 124. 00. The castrol syntorque was 14 dollars a quart for 5 quarts, 28 bucks for the new nut and 3 quarts of ATF for the transfer case. I didn't have to replace any hard parts. So if I hadn't replaced the clutch with southbends Con OFE, it would have only cost 222. 00.

Sounds like you need at least 2 lock up rings and the tabs and springs plus probably the gears to boot. If you are not doing the work yourself it might be cheaper to exchange.
