I'm looking to install a shift kit into my transmission to firm up shifts. Has anyone used a kit with good results. I was going to use the SKTFOD-Diesel kit from trans-go. Any recommendations would be helpful.

Trans Go TFOD

We have installed these kits in many different auto trans here at school. The kit makes a big improvement in the quality of the shifts and overall performance of the transmission... We also use a Mag Hytech double deep pan with Amsoil ATF for lubrication. Our servo pistons are by DTT as well as our accumulator assembly. To date our shop class project truck has had no problems with the unit. Our next upgrade will be a tighter torque converter with a much improved lock up clutch.

Our long term goal is to completely rebuild our unit with performance parts, but, as always, we have to wait until there is cash available.

I have used a Trans Go kit in a 96 Suburban with the 4L80E and have no problems with this transmission at all. It is also equipped with a double deep Mag HyTech pan.

As a young kid in high school I was always taught by my shop teacher to use a Trans Go kit whenever one is available. That was 35 yrs ago. So far they have all been sucessful installs.

Hope this helps you.

Good luck !!

I have a deep PML pan with fins on the bottom. Thanks for the reply, I just wanted to know the quality of the kit. I also plan on doing the whole trans from DTT but just trying to get by for now. Thanks for the reply.
