I have a 95 3/4 ton 2wd cummings. The truck has been great except for the transmission shifting down as of late. At 65mph the trans will kick down and I notice that the rpm's jump from 1,800 to 2,000. This is without a load. I also notice that the od light is not on . Do I have a transmission getting ready to take a dive on me? This is one of those famous auto trans. Help me if you can? Thanks

never heard of a cummings? :)

you probably need to

clean your tps

put in a new tps

or

pull the tps wires out of the loom (electrical noise)

Our 94 auto started shifting up and down at 222,000. It was the trans temp sensor. Is your trans temp light coming on? It also acted up at about 270,000, but the speedo would jump from 50-80 as it locked and unlocked the convertor. I cleaned the VSS termials and coated them with di-electric grease and stopped that problem. It helps to have a scanner to hook up and watch the data stream to see exactly what the computer sees. What Shrenden said. Probably the TPS, had the same problem and did what he said and the problem went away.

Good luck on your fix. :)
