What is the difference between the 47RE and the 48RE? Can the 48 be installed in a '99 as plug and play, or is splicing connectors and a trans ecm swap necessary as well? Thanks!

valve body including transfer and seperator plates

pump 15-20 percent more volume and drainback o-ring

front clutch retainer and reare clutch retainer

geartrain

o/d planet

more o/d clutches in 03/04 back to 47 style in 05

front band apply lever and thicker band strut

changed rear clutch teeth count from 41 to 92

torque converter is the same part # as 47re

yes the 47re would fit in a 99 but electronics were changed in 47's in 00

and even if you put 99 electronics in a 48re the 99 pcm may not accepth the boost pressures the 48re valve body exhibits.

In other words, many pieces from a 48 fit in a 47, why would you want

to put the whole transmission in.

The connectors on the Trans are the same but as DHAWK said the pcm may not like the pressure difference. I would call DTT and get the volt regulator for gov pressures and pcm. So to answer your question not just a plug and play. You may get away with it and you may not all depends on the pcm. The 48 does have a flaw in it with planetary gear set with the drain holes.

Hope this helps
