Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) trans. swap?

I am looking into swapping my 5 spd. out of my 94 for a 6 spd. I am aware that i will need a different x-member and driveshaft but what i dont know is where the speedometer will pick up from with that trans. Dont 98 and up man. trans. trucks have the speedo pickup on the rear axle?

It was not on the trans on my 2001 that I swapped from a six speed to an auto. It must be on the rear end.

I wonder how i would go about getting the speedo to work on a 94 truck with a 6 spd?
