Old G56 swap to a new G56

Anyone tried just injectors and a boost fooler?

A buddy of mine did it about a year ago on an 06 there were some computer glitches was fixed with a Smarty if interested PM me I have a complete 6spd change over out of an 06 Randy
 
Hey there just saw your post on the auto to 6spd conversion. Can i get ahold of those details. i have an 06 mega cab with the 48re and i really wish i would have gotten the g56 now.
 
At least you can get parts made by the manfacturer for the G 56, unlike the 5600. And more people somewhat know how to build one.
 
I swapped a 5600 into my 99 to replace a worn out 4500. I have made a living with heavy equipment most of my life and have to say that the engineers missed the shifting mark with the 5600. It is a heavy duty trans. I mean beefy. However it is hard on fluid and doesn't shift particularly well. At least mine doesn't. I have always driven manuals and while I like the gearset in it and how it handles loads it does seem to lack a bit in shifting manners. It also like more frequent fluid changes.
 
Exactly what MMeier and MarkMiller point out. I have never really liked how the 5600 shifts, and parts are really expensive (to me).

What I really want is a new truck though.

Time to place a classified, Wanted G56 Transmission, any color. MUST be attached to a newish truck, name your price for trans.
 
I must say I sold my 03 with the 47RE to get this 07 5. 9 with the G56, never have regretted it. Throw in the SB DD clutch and you got a nice combination that can hold some serious power.

Me TOO! (I don't have the SB clutch... . YET!) I sold my '01. 5 with a DTT auto for my . 07, 5. 9 and got lucky enough to find the AE late ratio G56. Wouldn't go back to the automatic!
 
Has anyone swapped out a automatic with a standard transmission?:confused:



I did this conversion on my 98... The best upgrade I've ever did to that rig. Not trying toot on my horn but that project went flawless, looks like it came like that from the factory. It cost about $2500 if I recall. This can't be any different for the 3rd gen, the key is to get a VIN so you can purchase the correct parts. I can provide the vin of my 3rd gen if you need it. I'll tell you another thing, there is not that many parts involved.
