Trans Temp guage/probe install.

I got this from someone else on the TDR. Just before leaving for Colorado & picking up new camper I installed an Auto Meter trans temp guage. There are 3 1/8" NPT plugs in the rear passenger side of the trans. Took out the rear-most plug and screwed the probe in. Maybe 2 min. job. The time conusming part was routing the wire up to the firewall. Maybe 10 min. I velcroed the guage to the column cover along w/ the egt guage. Works great and responds quickly.

Is the sensor that came with your Autometer transmission temp gauge a long or short probe? My VDO oil temp gauge came with a short probe that barely protruded past the threads. My Autometer transmission temp gauge came with a prode that protrudes about 1/2" or more past the threads. I don't want it to interfere with anything inside the test port. If your's is the long probe like came with mine, I'll probably go ahead and put mine where you did and forget about the new pan plan.
