Just got my new toys installed and see around 140 around town. I looked under the truck and the mechanic taped into the side of the trans housing on the passenger side towards the top of the unit. With this arrangment what is the danger zone for temps? Thanks, Doc

Hi Doc,

The folks at DTT will tell you 225 in the pan is the "H" point at which time you should pull over and idle in neutral for cool down and then inspect into the cause.

I have a digital trans temp gauge mounted in the pan and was sent an extra sensor so just for kicks I put it in that port you have yours in and swapped the lead between the two and noted they were within 1 degree of each other.

You can find a handy temperature range chart here that is used pretty much industry wide and is based on temperatures in the pan.

I have seen 195 backing a heavy trailer or slow going with little air flow over the cooler so took advantage of the 3rd gens massive Vistronic Fan Clutch and added a manual control to turn it on.

Most welcome and just to make sure we are on the same page this pic shows the port I compared the pan temps to and by the way the pan temps were taken at the front of the pan because the cooled fluid is returned at the rear of the pan.
