Trans temp sender - need T-fitting!

I asked my local Cummins guy where the best place to mount the sender for the transmission temp gauge would be. He said the best way is to use a pipe cutter on the hard line of the transmission cooler (in or out I can't remember), then get a special T-fitting that clamps on the ends of the hard cooler line with compression fittings, and has a bung for the gauge sender. He can only get the fititng in a gauge package, and I already have a gauge package (w/o fitting). Anyone know where I can find this T-fitting for the 47RE transmission?

Just got off the phone with Janetty. If what he says is true, the fitting for my sender (1/8 NPT) will go right in the bung for the current trans temp light sender, which is also in that cooler line. If that's true, I'll just replace the light sender. Don't really need the light with the gauge anyway, and it's pretty tough to see down there. Is this true, it's just a 1/8 NPT fitting?

You do need the stock sender, it measures trans temp, if the fluid is to hot or cold it won't let your TC lock up (no OD). Some folks install a 700 ohm resistor in place of the stock sender to send a normal temp signal to the PCM so your TC can lock. Problem then is your TC will lock up when the fluid is cold unless you manually turn it off. The stock sender is there for a very good reason, I'm really surprised Janetty would tell you otherwise.
