The check valve should be in the rubber line fitting that goes between the heat exchanger and the steel line to the trans. You do not HAVE to remove the check valve. You can run with it and never have a problem. After all, thousands (all) of Dodges come from the factory with it installed. Removal of the check valve is to prevent a problem in the very rare instance that it should get stuck.

I ordered a transmission line from the 95's that have the port for a temp sender built in. Will be used on my 97 for temp gauge.

Have see conflicting information on the install. Read a post where Bill K. said the 96-98 RAM would take the line with no change. 98. 5-2000+ need to remove the one way flow valve in the fitting at the cooler. In other posts I see people giving advice to remove the one way flow valve, and dont seem to be paying attention to the model year.

Before I tackle this, this weekend, and dont have to do it twice, my qustions are:

Where is the one way flow valve, on my 97 automatic? Is this a required step for a 97? Going with Bill's opinion, otherwise.
