My transmission temp gauge doesn't read over 100 anymore, do the probes tend to go bad? Ive checked all the wires and connections with all being good. Anyone else had this happen? DW

Mine does the same thing. The sensor is in the pan on mine. I replaced it once and the same thing with the new one. I noticed I can put and hold my hand on the pan after a long ride. It is just worm. I think it could be correct especially in the colder weather. It may get to 120 if I let it idle for a few minutes but as soon as I start moving it drops to 100 or below. It's just a good transmission cooler. I may try putting the sensor in the line to the cooler if I can figure out witch one it is. That should read what temp it is going to when used before it is cooled.

What guage do you have? I have a WESTACH and my sensor went south once and they replaced it free of charge. It's intermittent again and failing more. I've got to call them again and see if they have a better sensor and get another one.

What does cool fluid due for transmission performance? Since mid November mine has had a shudder in it when you accelerate hard in OD. The needle does move when I turn it on but climbs only to just over a 100 degrees. I've not towed with it since November, all this is with no load. The gauge is an Auto Meter. DW

Towed the skidloader today for 50 miles at 12,000 lbs and the temp never ran over 100 degrees, you'd think the sensor was bad. Let it idle for 20 minutes and it goes up to 150, end of story. Never thought the cooler had that much effect in the winter. Don't have a cover over the front and water temps were at 180, even when pulling hills. Temp was 34 today. DW

thats normal for winter, the reason it didn't move when you were towing is because the torque convertor was locked up, mine rarely moves over 125 when i was running around town getting on the trottle alot i barely got it to 150.
