I have the 94 trans line with the temp sensor that I want to install on my 99 RAM. Can anyone tell me how much fluid I will lose when I disconnect the current line? Is this a driveway job? Oo.

Is there anything else I need to know? What about oneway check valves? My parts man sold me some additional connectors in case I need them. Does the 94 line already have a check valve in it? Is there one in the line now that I need to remove?

Any pictures or part numbers ?

CB,

As I recall, I lost about 4 qt. when I installed the '94 line in my '01. The '94 line has a check valve in it. On my truck there was a check valve in the heat exchanger that I replaced w/ a 1/2" flare/12" NPT brass fitting that you can obtain at a home center or hardware store in the plumbing section. Or, you could drill the check valve in the new line out as another TDR member posted. HTH

Did this myself in the driveway a couple months ago. Didn't lose enough oil to add any!!

I took the check valve out of the new line put in the new sensor. Disconnect the old line from the heat exchanger then from the transmission. I had a plastic/rubber wine bottle stopper I used on the transmission once the line came off to stop the oil from draining out.

Be carefull tightening down the new line at the heat exchanger as the rubber section of the new line will want to twist and you wont want that to happen.

Good luck.
