2005 transfer case problem

So the previous owner left me a set of Autometer gauges in a pod and already installed... kind of . The pyro hook up is complete. The boost gauge now has all of the correct parts, but is not plumbed into intake it will be drilled and tapped shortly. The trans temp however is not hooked up at all no wires running to it or from it. Can someone point me in direction of install write up and parts needed for the trans temp gauge aside from the gauge?

For the boost gauge, it everything is set up except for the plumbing, the easiest would probably be a Banjo Bolt, available from genosgarage.com. (Kind of a parts outlet associated with the TDR,) The banjo bolt is a custom part developed for this use by early members of the TDR. It is a hollow bolt you use to replace one of your intake bolts. The gauge sensor fits the threaded hole. Simple! Call the Geno's staff they'll explain. I looked at their web site and found the electric temp sensor you probably need. but I didn't see the wiring. It probably should have come with the gauge. I would call them and discuss this with them, they may have an easy solution..They will also explain about the installation choices besides drilling the transmission pan. Since I bought Isspro I don't have personal experience on Autogauge, but they helped me with everything I needed both times I ordered gauges, sent me custom handouts and gave me tons of telephone advice. I can't recommend them highly enough.

For the boost gauge, Mr. Payne is referring to a Boost Bolt that replaces one of the intake plenum bolts. It is hollow and allows the intake pressure to be monitored through it.

For the transmission temp gauge, my temp sensor is installed in the line from the transmission to the cooler, just behind the bottom of the radiator. It was installed on the truck when I got it but it works and it's easier than welding a bung on the pan. It's a similar setup to this:

Thanks guys for the tips on trans temp gauge. I refuse to use a boost bolt as I just removed a broken one from the intake when I got the truck, I will drill the intake and just make life easy.
 
I think it was Geno's that had a transmission hose with a crimped inline port. That's what I used for my '06. I just don't trust hose clamps.
 
If you have all the fittings that were included then you'll just need to drill the intake to size Q, tap it for 1/8npt and install the included fitting. Boost bolt is much simpler but if it's not something you like then that's your other option. For the trans, I bought the 1/2in fuel line tee with 1/8npt sensor hole from genos. On the hot line from the trans there is a rubber portion, I cut it there, and installed the fitting. The sensor wire is just a single 18ga wire that runs from sensor to gauge. You'll also need to run a ground wire from the sensor body (not the sensor mount stud) to a ground of your choice.

If you need pics, let me know. I just installed all 3 this past weekend. Not sure what gauge series you have but I've got the install diagrams for the factory match if you need to see that as well.
 
For what it's worth, I've had the Banjo/Boost bolt installed since August 2006 and have had no problems for nearly 120,000 miles. You didn't mention if you know how or what broke the bolt on your truck, but certainly, anything hollow is not as strong as a solid part, so it is subject to damage if work is done to the engine and the bolt is subjected to unusual stress or impact..

I had my transmission temperature gauge installed in the pan. Although this location requires more work I liked the accuracy. I can't show you a picture any more, however. I replaced the pan with a Mag-Hytec aluminum pan last year. The Mag-Hytec comes tapped for a gauge sending unit, along with holding about 4 qts more fluid, and other advantages.,

I also installed a pyrometer with the other two gauges. I've been really happy with all of them. Best of luck with however you install your gauges.
 
I wouldn't rule out the boost bolt just because someone managed to break one, which I've never heard of before.
Mine has been in and working since 2003 without any problems.
