This might be a really dumb question, but I want to install a trans temp sensor in the pan of my transmission. I know you can change out the pressure line from a '95 to accept the sensor, but I had my lines upgraded on my '96, so I hate to throw out a perfectly good set. My plan is to put it in the pan, but to install it, I was wondering what others have used and the location? I thought a steel adapter would be good so it could be welded in, but they seem to be a little harder to find; any suggestions?

This has been covered several times in the past. Do a search on this topic and you will find good info. Some members have used the center test port, I think I'm correct on it being the center one, and others have installed a sensor receiving tee on the line leaving the transmission. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply, I just hadn't seen anything on the type of fitting used; I know the center port (accumulator port) has been mentioned, but I have read different opinions on this spot. The T would be good; does it have enough play to accept movement away from the trans?

Although taking the temp in the outlet line is the best it's sort of a pain to do. Taking the temp in the pan is better than nothing especially if you do it in a Mag-Hytac pan. The M-H has a port for a sender and a drain plug. Besides those pluses it will help cool the fluid and looks good too.
