Trans Temp When Reving

I happended to innocently notice than if I were to (not saying I would) goose the throttle many times in nutral on the auto (to hear the stacks and see smoke ), the trans temp goes up. Why would it? The trans is not in gear. There is no load?



Also then, by process of elimination, I would then say that multiple goosing in nutral would be bad for the trans. Correct?

Yes, it will. Practically, the only method to cool it is moving. You'd need air flow through that little cooler thing.



Unless, you have the under bed cooler w/fan or an electric engine fan clutch you could engage.
